Peter Laurie

Peter Laurie is a British journalist, editor and author, who penned many books, relating to computer topic. His writings include "Apache: The Definitive Guide", "Drugs: Medical, Psychological and Social Facts", "The Joy of Computers" and others.

During the period from 1957 to 1959, Peter served as a seaman in the Royal Navy. Between 1962-1979, he worked as a freelance journalist for Vogue, Sunday Times (London) and other publications. In 1979, Laurie started to work as an editor of Practical Computing, a United Kingdom computer magazine, a post he held till 1982. In 1980, Peter was appointed a managing director of Southdata Ltd., a software publishing company, operating in London.

Peter married Barbara Peters, a software publisher, on July 29, 1959. Their marriage produced three children — Bennet (Ben), Adam and Harriet.

In 1962, Peter graduated from Christ's College, Cambridge, with a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Mathematics degree.
