Mike Banahan has had many years of experience in the computer industry as an analyst, consultant and manager. His career spans academia and industry, starting as a lecturer in computer science at the University of Bradford in 1978, and has moved through jobs involving training, technical and strategic consultancy.
He was one of the early users of Unix in the UK and remembers when the entire Internet bandwidth into the UK was 9600 baud. He is an honorary life member of the UKUUG and currently working on the promotion of open source software at government and strategic level in the UK and Europe.
