Kevin Forsberg is co-founder and executive director of The Center for Systems Management. Currently he specializes consulting and training in Systems, Hardware, and Software Project Management, and the related processes, techniques, and skills essential to achieving predictable project performance. Dr. Forsberg draws on 27 years of industrial experience in Systems Engineering, Project, and Proposal Management. His experience ranges from research projects, to development efforts, through to full-scale production implementation. He was an early member of the Corona Project, Americas first successful satellite. He was awarded the NASA Public Service Medal (1981) in recognition of his outstanding technical and managerial contributions to the Space Shuttle Program. (He was Program Manager of the Space Shuttle tile project for seven years, from research through full-scale production.) He has been actively involved as co-chair of the INCOSE Working Group on version 2a & 3 of the INCOSE System Engineering Handbook. From 2002 to 2005 Dr. Forsberg was co-chair of INCOSE Committee on System Engineering Certification, which began granting the Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) certifications in February 2005. He is currently a member of the nine-person INCOSE Certification Advisory Group (CAG).
Dr. Forsberg is coauthor of Visualizing Project Management, and Communicating Project Management (J. Wiley & Sons), together with Harold Mooz and Howard Cotterman. In addition he has over sixty published articles in referred journals and proceedings. In 2001 Kevin Forsberg received INCOSEs Pioneer Award, jointly with Harold Mooz. Dr. Forsberg is a Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP), awarded by INCOSE in 2004. He is a Life-time Fellow, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) (1976).
Dr. Forsberg earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in Engineering Mechanics at Stanford University (1961). He received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1956.
