Jacques Mangold was born i Paris in 1948. He moved to Stockholm in 1975 and has lived there ever since.
Jacques is an autodidact artist who has painted since he was a child with Cezanne and Gauguin as models. It was in Stockholm that he started to develop his artistry, and he belongs to the painting group Maria since 1983.
— The advantage of being autodidact is that you take more risks and dare more than in the false security of an art school, he says.
His oil paintings are characterized by strong colours and geometrical city pictures, often in association with soft shapes of landscapes and unusual Nils Holgersson perspective (the character of Selma Lagerlöf's famous novel that fly over Sweden on a goose).
