Gerard Sanders

Professor Wm. Gerard "Gerry" Sanders is an associate professor and the Department Chair in Organizational Leadership and Strategy at the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University.

He earned a Ph.D. in strategic management from the University of Texas at Austin. In 1996, Professor Sanders joined the faculty at BYU, where he teaches strategic management. He has also been a visiting professor at Penn State University. His research is in the area of corporate governance and its affects on firm strategy and performance. He has published extensively in the Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management, Human Resource Management, among other outlets.

His work on the effects of stock option pay has been featured in such outlets as the New York Times, the Economist, BusinessWeek, CFO, and on National Public Radio's Marketplace. Professor Sanders is on the Editorial Board of the Academy of Management Journal and the Academy of Management Review.

In 2001 he received the Marriott School's J. Earl Garrett Fellowship and in 2003 he was designated a University Young Scholar.

Prior to entering graduate school, Dr. Sanders spent twelve years in industry managing the acquisitions and financing of large portfolios of commercial real estate.
