Anders Melander is an Associate Professor of Business Administration at Jönköping International Business School (JIBS), Sweden.
His research primarily focuses on strategy and how formal "strategy work" is organized within organizations. His work began with his thesis, "Industrial Wisdom and Strategic Change in the Swedish Pulp and Paper industry 1945-1990," which he defended in 1997. He has continued to research the role of industrial wisdom in strategy processes, particularly within the pulp and paper industry.
In recent years, Anders Melander's research has focused on the evolution of formal strategy work in organizations, with a specific interest in how inclusive and transparent strategic management systems, such as Hoshin Kanri, can be introduced in organizations. He has also conducted research on business development, particularly in collaboration with small and medium-sized companies (SMEs), and on management innovation in SMEs.
Before his current academic role, Melander managed a national business development program for SMEs between 2000 and 2006 and also managed business development at JIBS in 2007. Since 2008, he has managed several research and development projects addressing development challenges in SMEs.
